Way to jump the gun.

The NBA Store in Manhattan, N.Y. began selling LeBron James' No. 23 Los Angeles Lakers jerseys to the public on Friday, but only for a brief moment.

As it turns out, according to ESPN's Darren Rovell, the jerseys had to be pulled from the shelves in under an hour since the NBA doesn't permit jersey sales of a player who hasn't officially signed with the team.

The league's moratorium lifted Friday, but the Lakers have yet to officially announce that James has agreed to the reported four-year, $154-million contract.

Whoops.
