NBA crazy season is here.

LeBron James did not text Kevin Durant about joining the Los Angeles Lakers together, and his level of interest won't be influenced by L.A.'s ability to land Kawhi Leonard, sources close to the Cavaliers superstar told Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon.

The texting story was reported earlier Thursday by ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, whose sources said James reached out to Durant. The two-time Finals MVP can also opt out of his contract, but is widely expected to re-sign with the Golden State Warriors.

The Lakers are reportedly under pressure to make a trade with the San Antonio Spurs for Leonard before Sunday in order for James to consider Los Angeles a preferred destination. Talks between the Lakers and Spurs are apparently back on.

James reportedly isn't planning to take meetings with prospective suitors once free agency begins July 1. He must first opt out of the final year of his contract to become an unrestricted free agent, which he has yet to officially do.
