The new-look and now LeBron James-led Los Angeles Lakers will not include Julius Randle.

The Lakers renounced their rights to the 23-year-old forward Monday, making him an unrestricted free agent, league sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

This appears to have been a mutual decision, with Randle reportedly asking the Lakers to renounce him once it became clear his role would diminish, while management had no intention of committing to him long term, multiple sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

This move clears up $12.5 million in cap space that the organization will use on incoming pieces, which includes point guard Rajon Rondo and his reported one-year, $9-million contract.

Randle's representatives were reportedly set to meet with the Lakers on Monday in an effort to keep him in Los Angeles. He received a $5.6-million qualifying offer last week to become a restricted free agent.

The No. 7 pick of the 2014 NBA draft and longest-tenured Laker averaged a career-high 16.1 points last season, along with eight rebounds and 2.6 assists on 55.8 percent shooting in a full 82-game slate. He was also one of just five players to post a line of 19 points, nine boards, and three dimes over the campaign's final 41 contests, and was the only one of the five to convert 55 percent of his shots.
