The Dallas Mavericks have had conversations with the Chicago Bulls about sliding back to the No. 7 pick in Thursday's draft, possibly in order to select Michael Porter Jr., sources told ESPN's Jonathan Givony.

Dallas currently holds the fifth pick and has been linked to Texas center Mohamed Bamba. However, Givony reports that Mavs ownership is intrigued by Porter, who represents the highest risk/reward player in the draft.

Projected as the No. 1 pick in this draft a year ago, the 6-foot-10 forward's stock took a hit due to the serious back injury that limited him to three collegiate games for Missouri, and he's now not expected to go in the top five. Porter canceled his pro day earlier this month, but his representatives shared medical information with select lottery teams.
