The Cleveland Cavaliers' front office has been in contact with LeBron James' representatives - though not with King James himself - ahead of Thursday's NBA draft, according to Cleveland.com's Joe Vardon.
That contact reportedly includes both face-to-face meetings and conversations over the phone, but the topic of James' future with the Cavaliers has apparently not been seriously broached yet.
James has a pivotal decision this summer, which bear consequences that will send waves through the Cavaliers' organization and the league overall. The 33-year-old superstar has until June 29th to decide whether he will opt in to a final year in Cleveland at $35.6 million. Otherwise, James will become an unrestricted free agent on July 1.
The uncertainty surrounding James makes planning around the No. 8 pick in this year's draft tough for the Cavaliers, but the team has reportedly set its sights on remaining competitive next season.
