Report: Warriors could pursue Ariza in free agency this summer

The Houston Rockets attempted to lure away a keg cog to the Golden State Warriors' championship roster last summer, albeit unsuccessfully. Fast forward one year later, and the Warriors could look to do the same to their Western Conference rivals by signing one of their all-important pieces.

During an appearance on Tim Kawakami's podcast for The Athletic, ESPN's Chris Haynes mentioned Trevor Ariza's name as one he's been hearing that Golden State could pursue in free agency.

To make a signing work, Ariza would need to agree to a massive pay decrease after working under a four-year, $32-million contract with the Rockets.

The 32-year-old forward averaged 11.7 points, 4.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists, and 1.5 steals across 67 appearances for the 65-win Rockets this season.

Ariza did have a rough go against the Warriors in the Western Conference finals, though, shooting just 33.3 percent from the field and 20 percent from behind the arc for 8.9 points.
