With all the question marks surrounding San Antonio Spurs star Kawhi Leonard's next potential destination, teammate Danny Green is once again attempting to halt the rumors.

"I talk to him here and there," Green said on ESPN's "Get Up" on Friday. "Check up on him and see how he's doing. ... It's up in the air right now but I think he wants to be in San Antonio. He's let me know that. He's let me know verbally he wanted to be there, so we'll see what happens."

Green is often the outspoken Spur when it comes to the Kawhi situation, supporting his teammate and biting back at media reports that may exaggerate the extent of the drama.

Earlier in April, Green scoffed at the idea that there was tension between Leonard and the rest of the Spurs, suggesting that the franchise supports the two-time Defensive Player of the Year "regardless of what he's been going through."

If Leonard chooses to remain in San Antonio, the Spurs are ready to offer the perennial All-Star a five-year extension worth approximately $219 million, according to Tom Orsborn of the San Antonio Express-News.

Leonard appeared in just nine contests for the Spurs this season, struggling to properly recover from a mysterious quad injury. Despite being medically cleared to return by team doctors, the 26-year-old chose to sit out until he felt right, playing his final game of the season in mid-January.
