The Charlotte Hornets have agreed to terms with former Phoenix Suns coach Jay Triano to become James Borrego's lead assistant, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Triano became the Suns' interim bench boss just three games into the 2017-18 season after the dismissal of Earl Watson. Including parts of three seasons as with the Toronto Raptors, Triano has an NBA head coaching record of 108-200. He also coaches the Canadian men's national team.

Borrego spent the past three seasons on Gregg Popovich's San Antonio Spurs staff before taking the Hornets' top job, replacing longtime Charlotte coach Steve Clifford.
