The Dream Team is coming to your TV screen.

At their upfront slate reveal Tuesday, BET announced a new five-part docuseries focused on the relationships and cultural impact of Team USA's star-studded 1992 Olympic basketball team, according to The Hollywood Reporter's Lesley Goldberg.

The NBA and USA Basketball are set to collaborate with BET to bring the series to fruition.

The Dream Team featured a then-unprecedented collection of all-timers, such as Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird. The 1992 Summer Games in Barcelona were the first to allow professional basketball players to participate, helping the Americans level (and ultimately eradicate) the field of competition after the rise of the Soviet Union's program through the 1970s and '80s.

With guards John Stockton and Clyde Drexler, wings Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, and Charles Barkley, and a supersized lineup of big men in Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, David Robinson, and Duke standout Christian Laettner also in tow, the Dream Team took Barcelona by storm, running roughshod over the field and capturing the U.S.'s first gold medal since 1984. The global phenomenon has been credited for helping popularize basketball overseas.

The production will be directed by Emmett and Brendan Malloy, with sportswriter Jack McCallum, whose 2012 best-seller "Dream Team" serves as a major inspiration for the series, serving as a consultant.
