The Houston Rockets are reportedly releasing oft-injured center Brandan Wright, according to the Houston Chronicle's Jonathan Feigen.

After being waived by the free-falling Memphis Grizzlies in February, Wright signed on to provide center depth with the Rockets, but, in keeping with much of his career, struggled mightily to stay on the court. After just 15 minutes of court time with Houston, knee soreness has sidelined Wright and will prevent him from making another appearance this season - though he will continue to rehab with the team, sources told Feigen.

There are few players as impactful in as little playing time as Wright. While he has never managed to average more than 20 minutes per game and has only played more than 40 games in four of his 11 seasons, Wright has consistently ranked as one of the best interior defenders in the league.

On attempts within six feet of the basket, opponents have collectively shot just 53.3 percent versus Wright; under the same parameters, defensive savants Rudy Gobert and Anthony Davis have allowed 52.5 and 52.8 percent, respectively.
