It was simply inevitable.

For the fourth year in a row, the Cleveland Cavaliers will be one of the eight teams in the Eastern Conference participating in the NBA playoffs.

Cleveland wasn't in action Thursday night but clinched a berth following the Detroit Pistons' overtime loss to the Houston Rockets.

The last year the franchise failed to qualify was in 2014, which just so happened to be the last year they didn't have LeBron James on the roster.

The Cavaliers have advanced to the Finals in each of the last three seasons since his grand return, capturing the title in 2016 after overcoming a 3-1 series deficit against the Golden State Warriors.

They currently sit third in the East with a 42-29 record and are riding a three-game winning streak after defeating the first-place Toronto Raptors on Wednesday.
