The Charlotte Hornets' search for a new general manager appears to nearing a conclusion.

Houston Rockets executive Gersson Rosas has reportedly emerged as a serious candidate for the front-office vacancy, sources told The New York Times' Marc Stein. The club's primary choice for a new general manager, however, still appears to be former Los Angeles Lakers executive Mitch Kupchak, according to Stein.

Rosas has been the Rockets' executive vice president of basketball operations since the 2012-13 season. He has also served as the general manager for Houston's G League side, the Rio Grande Valley.

Rosas was one of three executives Charlotte had apparently requested permission to interview earlier this month. The Hornets were also said to be interested in Marc Eversley, the Philadelphia 76ers' vice president of player personnel, and Miami Heat assistant general manager Adam Simon.

Charlotte is searching for a new general manager after announcing last month it would not be extending Rich Cho's contract.
