Charlotte Hornets forward Nicolas Batum will miss Monday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers and could sit out for more after an MRI on Sunday revealed the 29-year-old is dealing with chronic left Achilles tendinitis, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Wojnarowski adds Batum's return will be based upon his response to treatment of the ailment.

It isn't the first time an injury has plagued Batum this season. Charlotte's French swingman also missed the first 12 games of the campaign after tearing the ulnar collateral ligament in his left elbow during the preseason.

Batum is averaging 11.9 points and 5.5 rebounds in 56 games played this season.

He signed a five-year, $120-million contract with the Hornets in July 2016.
