Gary Harris is heading to the shelf.

The Denver Nuggets shooting guard could be out at least "three or four" games with a right knee sprain/strain, head coach Michael Malone told Nuggets.com's Chris Dempsey on Saturday.

The coach was hopeful the team's leading scorer would return at some point during the current seven-game road trip, which began Saturday in Memphis.

Harris suffered the injury after getting fouled on a fast-break dunk and landing awkwardly on his right leg during Thursday's 120-113 win over the Detroit Pistons. He was ruled out of Saturday's game against the Grizzlies, with Will Barton starting in his absence.

The timing is unfortunate, as the Nuggets are in a tight race to make the playoffs, and currently sit one game out of the final two spots.

Harris, 23, is collecting a career-high 17.7 points while hitting 2.4 threes per game on 39.9 percent shooting. He also averages three assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 1.8 steals over 65 games. He inked a four-year, $84-million extension prior to this season.
