The NBA announced Wednesday it is expanding its international academies to include a developmental camp for the best female prospects outside the U.S.

The league will host the first of these camps in Mexico City from March 9-11, bringing in the top 20-25 prospects under the age of 18 from Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America.

"This program continues our commitment to growing the game among boys and girls at the youth and elite levels around the world," said Brooks Meek, the NBA's vice president of international basketball operations.

The league plans to hold more of these camps this year in Australia, China, India, and Senegal.
