Report: Brandan Wright agrees to sign with Rockets after Grizzlies buyout
Justin Ford-USA TODAY Sports
The Houston Rockets won't have to give anything up to get their man.
The team will sign veteran center Brandan Wright once his buyout with the Memphis Grizzlies is complete, sources told Yahoo Sports' Shams Charania.
Wright waived his trade kicker Thursday so he could go to Houston in a deal that ultimately fell through, according to The Ringer's Chris Vernon.
The 30-year-old big man is averaging five points on 57.6 percent shooting to go along with 3.4 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per outing. He's a good finisher around the rim, downing shots at a 74.3 percent clip within three feet of the basket over his career. That skill set should bode well for the second-place Rockets thanks to elite playmakers James Harden and Chris Paul.
