Cleveland Cavaliers forward Kevin Love will not need surgery on his left hand, which was fractured Tuesday against the Detroit Pistons, the team announced.

The bad news for Cleveland is the team will be without him for eight weeks, potentially keeping the big man out until just before the postseason.

The Cavaliers are fighting to maintain the third seed, giving themselves a little breathing room after defeating the fourth-seeded Miami Heat on Wednesday in a sloppy performance by both teams.

Prior to the injury, Love was announced as a reserve for the upcoming All-Star game after averaging 17.9 points and 9.4 rebounds in just 28 minutes per game. He was replaced by Heat guard Goran Dragic.
