Smart apologizes for hurting himself by punching picture frame
Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart issued a public apology after suffering a hand laceration during a momentary lapse in judgment.
Smart explained he "swiped at and hit a picture frame," which resulted in a right hand injury that will keep him out for at least two weeks. The Celtics were riding a four-game losing streak at the time of his injury, which could have played into his frustrations.
I want to take this time to express my sincerest apologies to my teammates, coaches, and most of all the amazing Boston Celtics fans. I'm embarrassed and disappointed in my actions. I swiped at and hit a picture frame on the wall. I feel like I let all y'all down

I promise I will learn from this situation and come back better than ever. I love y'all and I truly appreciate all the support

Smart's self-inflicted absence comes at an inopportune time for the Celtics, who are falling back to the pack following a blistering start to the season. Boston is currently on a four-game West Coast swing and will play the Golden State Warriors on national television this weekend.
