The decision to let go of head coach Jason Kidd had apparently been weighing on the minds of the Milwaukee Bucks' front office for months.

There were already talks within the Bucks organization about firing Kidd as their head coach over the summer due to his lack of communication and a tendency to play "mind games" during film sessions, sources told Sports Illustrated's Jared Zwerling.

Zwerling adds the Bucks weren't fans of Kidd's "old-school approach" in which he was deemed too tough on his players and not comforting enough.

Milwaukee also reportedly took exception with Kidd attempting to exert too much control over personnel decisions and wanted the 44-year-old to focus solely on his coaching duties.

Kidd managed the Bucks to a 139-152 regular-season record and led them to two playoff appearances in four seasons. Despite vain attempts from superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo to save Kidd's job, Bucks general manager Jon Horst said Monday a need for a "fresh approach and a change of leadership" influenced Kidd's dismissal.
