Golden State Warriors superstar Kevin Durant is laying the groundwork for when his playing career is over.
Durant, along with his business partner Rich Kleiman, is already making a "concerted effort" toward purchasing an NBA franchise when he retires, according to Chris Haynes of ESPN.
A source told Haynes that becoming the second African-American team owner in the NBA is a genuine goal for the 29-year-old. Michael Jordan is currently the only majority African-American team owner in any major North American sporting league.
Durant earned over $135 million in NBA salary over the last decade, and draws from a Nike endorsement deal worth upward of $300 million. He has also made investments in several tech companies on the rise, such as Rubrick, Overtime, Acorns, Postmates, and Skydio, in addition to the pizza chain Pieology.
