With playing time sparse on a roster loaded to the brim with centers, Willy Hernangomez has been unable to capitalize off a quality rookie campaign out in the Big Apple.

Perhaps a change of scenery could do him some good, as several teams are reportedly interested in acquiring the 23-year-old Spaniard in a trade ahead of the Feb. 8 deadline, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley.

Hernangomez has played a touch over five minutes across two appearances since Dec. 21, with both Enes Kanter and Kyle O'Quinn sharing minutes at the five spot. Joakam Noah has also gotten some run, albeit in an extremely limited capacity.

Taken 35th overall in the 2015 NBA Draft by the Philadelphia 76ers before sending his rights to the New York Knicks, Hernangomez - who signed his deal in 2016 following a year with Real Madrid's senior squad - was believed to be a building block for the Knicks franchise alongside Kristaps Porzingis, with whom he's close friends with.

Porzingis has even gone to bat for Hernangomez in the past, saying how he deserves to play more.

In 72 appearances last season, Hernangomez averaged a respectable 8.2 points, seven rebounds, and 1.3 assists, on 52.9 percent shooting, primarily as a reserve for the 31-51 Knicks.
