Mavs switch Chinese name from 'Little Cows' to 'Lone Ranger Heroes'
The Dallas Mavericks will no longer be known as "Little Cows" in China.
In September, the Mavs announced they were changing their Chinese name and seeking suggestions from fans across China. The field was narrowed down to three finalists - Lone Ranger Heroes, Fierce Colts, and Wild Horses - and fans were asked to vote for their favorite.
More than 100,000 votes later, fans have settled on the Dallas Lone Ranger Heroes as the Mavs' official Chinese name.
After receiving more than 100k votes from Chinese fans, we just revealed our new Chinese team name during our @tencentnba broadcast. We're proud to introduce 独行侠!

"This is the beginning of a new chapter in the Mavericks' long legacy in China," owner Mark Cuban said in a club-issued statement. "With this Chinese name change, we've made history by giving our Chinese-speaking fans the opportunity to redefine our identity. I think that fans will be proud of this new name."
