Longtime NBA referee Monty McCutchen has been appointed as vice president and head of referee development and training, the league announced Friday.

McCutchen will oversee the day-to-day management and on-court performance of NBA officials. He succeeds Bob Delaney, who retired in October.

The 51-year-old has officiated more than 1,400 regular-season games since joining the NBA in 1993-94.
