76ers co-owner: Judge 'a danger to society,' not Meek Mill

Michael Rubin is turning the tables on the judge who handed down what he believes to be too harsh of a prison sentence for Meek Mill.

The Philadelphia 76ers co-owner called out Judge Genece E. Brinkley, who sentenced the rapper to two-to-four years in prison for violating probation in his 2008 drug and weapons case, later calling him a "danger to the community."

"The judge said that he's a danger to society? She's a danger to society!" Rubin said, according to Bleacher Report's Natalie Weiner.

Rubin and the artist, whose real name is Robert Rihmeek Williams, have grown close since meeting at an NBA All-Star Weekend years ago. The billionaire entrepreneur wrote a letter of support for Williams before his Nov. 6 hearing. That, as well as multiple appeals to all tiers of the Pennsylvania judicial system and a request for bail, have so far been fruitless.

The Sixers owner, along with star Joel Embiid, recently visited Williams in prison to offer him support. Rubin said he won't rest until his friend is freed.

"I'd like anybody who can make a difference to look at this and say they're not going to tolerate one bad character - this judge - to allow someone to sit in prison who has a 6-year-old kid," he said. "It tells me that probation laws are completely broken in the state of Pennsylvania. Meek is incredibly appreciative of everyone's support. I'm underwhelmed by it."
