Curry admits he immediately forgot Kerr's play-call after timeout vs. 76ers

The Golden State Warriors weren't themselves early on in Saturday night's contest, and perhaps the best example involved superstar Stephen Curry.

The Warriors called a timeout early in the first quarter after the Philadelphia 76ers went on a run, and about seven seconds after resuming play, Steve Kerr burned another timeout to chew out Curry for failing to run the play he had just drawn up.

"We weren't locked in. We weren't focused," Kerr told reporters postgame, as quoted by Mercury News' Mark Medina. "So I wanted to jolt them a little bit and let them have it."

However, the two-time MVP owned up to his error.

"That was all my fault," Curry admitted. "I came out of the timeout and didn't know the play. I knew the play, but forgot it once I got out there. ... As a point guard, that's kind of unacceptable that literally four dribbles into the possession not knowing where I'm going to throw the ball."

The defending champions found themselves down 47-28 after one quarter in Philly. Curry said sluggish starts happen "a lot" around the NBA, but the Warriors are scrutinized more so than other clubs.

Golden State responded by pouring in 47 points in the third quarter and, perhaps even more impressively, holding the Sixers to just 15 points on 31.8 percent shooting from the field and 14.3 percent from deep en route to a 124-116 victory.

Curry redeemed himself for the brain cramp with a game-high 35 points to go along with five assists, five rebounds, and a block for the Dubs, who improved to 12-4 on the season.
