Draymond takes blame for Warriors' 3 losses: 'The enthusiasm wasn't there'

The reigning champion Golden State Warriors came out of the gates playing somewhat lackadaisical basketball to open the 2017-18 season, losing three times in their first seven outings.

All-Star forward Draymond Green will be the first to admit he wasn't his usual vigorous self early on, and blames himself for those blemishes on Golden State's 11-3 record.

"Early in the season, the enthusiasm wasn't there. We lost three games. I am the reason we lost those three games," said Green during an open forum at Harvard University Thursday, according to The Boston Globe's Gary Washburn.

Golden State's opening night 122-121 loss to the Houston Rockets at Oracle Arena was nearly prevented by Kevin Durant's last-second shot, but it unfortunately came after the final buzzer. They then fell to the Memphis Grizzlies by 10 points four nights later, and to the Detroit Pistons a week after that.

Contributing on offense was seemingly the furthest thing from Green's mind on those occasions. He attempted a grand total of 16 shots, converting just four for 12 points.

His numbers have improved dramatically during his team's ongoing seven-game winning streak, averaging 14.6 points on 63.8 percent shooting from the field and 54.2 percent from 3-point range, 7.1 rebounds, 5.7 assists, 1.3 steals, and 1.4 blocks in 29.2 minutes.

Golden State looks to make it eight in a row Thursday at TD Garden against the Boston Celtics, whose 13-game winning streak is the only one longer than the Warriors'.
