The Houston Rockets are expecting to have point guard Chris Paul back in the lineup at some point this week, with the stated goal being Thursday against the Suns in Phoenix.

"We don't want to push it," Rockets coach Mike D'Antoni told reporters Tuesday, according to Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle. "If not Thursday, then we'll see about Saturday (in Memphis). He worked out hard (Sunday). We'll see how he feels Tuesday and Wednesday. (Thursday's game) is what we're shooting for."

Paul, who's been out since the Rockets' season opener nearly a month ago due to a left knee injury, started ramping up his workouts Sunday, according to Feigen. He's expected to go through an extensive workout Tuesday and practice with the team Wednesday before they make a determination on his availability in Phoenix.

In the meantime, the Rockets are managing fine without their superstar point guard. Buoyed by James Harden's and Eric Gordon's offensive heroics, and the defense of their offseason recruits, they're riding a six-game win streak that has them tied with the Golden State Warriors atop the Western Conference at 11-3.
