Paul George knows he has some time to contemplate his next big career move, but removing the uncertainty about Russell Westbrook's future with the Oklahoma City Thunder eliminates a major variable from his decision-making process.

The Thunder announced Westbrook agreed to a long-term contract extension, reportedly guaranteeing the reigning MVP $232 million over the next six seasons.

"For him to be committed here, it says a lot," George said Saturday, per ESPN's Royce Young. "Just knowing what type of dude Russ is in his values and his beliefs, and him being committed to this organization says a lot."

That George will decline his 2018-19 option and enter free agency at the end of this season is a pretty much a foregone conclusion, but after ruminations came to light that he's considering signing with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2018, it appears Westbrook's commitment to the Thunder has opened George's eyes to staying put.

"I think when that time comes, the decision will be easier to make for myself," George said.

Thunder fans will get their first opportunity to see George, Westbrook, and Carmelo Anthony together on the court in the team's preseason opener, Oct. 3 against the Rockets.
