James 'would love to have D-Wade' on Cavs

It's ultimately not up to LeBron James whether Dwyane Wade - who was bought out of his contract with the Chicago Bulls on Sunday - elects to join him in Cleveland to compete for a championship.

That won't stop the Cavaliers star from at least making a pitch to his banana-boat brother and ex-Heatles teammate.

"I would love to have D-Wade be a part of this team," James said during Cavaliers Media Day on Monday, according to NBA TV. "I think he brings another championship DNA, championship pedigree. Brings another playmaker to the team, who can get guys involved, that can make plays, and also has a great basketball mind. It would be great to have him here.

"Our front office has done some great things throughout this summer. I've talked to D-Wade throughout the whole summer, and I probably will reach out to him, as well."

The 35-year-old Wade surrendered approximately $8 million of the $23.8-million the Bulls owed him this coming season to make the split a reality.

Not only are the Cavaliers in the running to acquire his services, but the San Antonio Spurs, Oklahoma City Thunder, and his former squad in the Miami Heat are also reportedly high on his wish list.

The Heat advanced to four straight NBA Finals with James and Wade together from 2010-14, winning two titles along the way.
