In order to clear up the logjam at shooting guard, the Memphis Grizzlies have traded 26-year-old Troy Daniels.

Memphis sent him to the Phoenix Suns, along with a 2018 second-round pick, in exchange for a conditional 2018 second-round pick, the teams announced Friday night.

The second-rounder the Grizzlies are receiving is reportedly top-55 protected, league sources told The Vertical's Shams Charania.

The move sheds the $3.4 million Daniels was set to earn in 2017-18, and clears up a roster spot for the Grizzlies.

Daniels would have been competing with the likes of Tyreke Evans, Ben McLemore, and Wayne Selden for minutes at the two-spot had he remained in Memphis.

He was acquired by the organization in a sign-and-trade with the Charlotte Hornets last summer. Daniels wound up making 67 appearances during the regular season, shooting better from behind the arc (38.9 percent) than he did from the field (37.4 percent), while averaging 8.2 points and 1.5 rebounds.

His 135 3-pointers ranked third overall among bench players.
