Suns sign former No. 1 pick Bennett to reported non-guaranteed deal

Anthony Bennett, the first overall selection in the 2013 draft, is back for another try at latching on in the NBA.

The Phoenix Suns announced Friday that they've signed the UNLV product, whom some consider one of the greatest busts in NBA history. He joins them on a deal The Vertical's Shams Charania first reported is non-guaranteed, citing league sources.

The 6-foot-8 forward last played in the Association with the Brooklyn Nets last season, but made just 23 appearances before being released in January. After that, Bennett played 64 total minutes across 10 contests with Turkish Euroleague powerhouse Fenerbahce.

Bennett's failure to live up to his draft position has been chalked up to a number of factors, including the generally underwhelming talent pool in the 2013 draft and a litany of health concerns - including the combination of a torn rotator cuff, sleep apnea, and asthma, which impacted his conditioning and effectively torpedoed his rookie campaign.

In the four years since being drafted, Bennett has averaged 4.4 points and 3.3 rebounds in limited time split between the Cleveland Cavaliers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors, and Nets.
