Durant: I support Jemele Hill 'for standing up for what she believes in'

USA Today Sports

Count Kevin Durant among those who support Jemele Hill.

The ESPN broadcaster came under fire recently for calling President Donald Trump a "white supremacist." White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders described the comment as a "fireable offense" and Trump responded by demanding ESPN issue an apology "for untruth."

Durant weighed in on the controversy Thursday night.

"I play basketball and I'm behind Jemele," the Golden State Warriors forward told TMZ Sports. "I support her. That's what it's all about. She's standing up for what she believes in. I'm with it."

Asked if ESPN was wrong for reportedly trying to replace Hill with another African American broadcaster, Durant replied: "Yup!"

The reigning NBA champ and Finals MVP has sided against the POTUS before, saying "I don't respect who's in office right now" and blaming Trump for the racial divide in the country.
