The Los Angeles Lakers will retire Kobe Bryant's jersey prior to a Dec. 18 home game against the Golden State Warriors, sources told TMZ.
Bryant retired after the 2015-16 season, and went out with a bang in his final NBA game at the Staples Center - scoring 60 points on 22-of-50 shooting in a win over the Utah Jazz.
The big question now is how Bryant will be honored. He wore two numbers over the course of his 20-year career - No. 8 from 1996-2006, and No. 24 from 2006-16. In that final game at the Staples Center, the Lakers saluted him by painting both numbers onto the court.
Bryant's jersey will join the retired numbers of Shaquille O'Neal, Magic Johnson, Jerry West, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar - among others - in the rafters.
