Gobert: Rubio said he's never played with anyone 'who can finish like me'

Ricky Rubio can't wait to take the court with Rudy Gobert. The Utah Jazz's newly acquired point guard apparently told the towering Frenchman that he sees incredible potential for the two of them in the upcoming season.

In fact, the slick-passing Spaniard had some especially high praise for Gobert's talents around the rim.

The wording of Gobert's statement is open to a bit of interpretation. Rubio has played with some truly electric scorers in his six-season pro career, including stretch-five Kevin Love, high-flying guard Zach LaVine, and a potential future MVP in Karl-Anthony Towns.

Of course, it's plausible that Rubio was not slighting his former Timberwolves teammates, but strictly referring to the manner in which Gobert earns his buckets. The lean 7-foot-1 big man has shot a whopping 61.1 percent from the field in his four-year career, largely from dominating the battle in the paint.

In any case, it's easy to envision plenty of textbook pick-and-rolls in Utah this season, as the Jazz look to start a new chapter in their post-Gordon Hayward world.
