Shaq responds to news of ref Danny Crawford's retirement: 'Good'

Is Shaquille O'Neal happy to see senior official Danny Crawford call it a career after 31 seasons?

Sure seems like it.

It's hard to tell for sure whether Shaq was joking, especially on a social media platform like Twitter.

Having worked more than 2,000 regular-season games and 300 in the playoffs, it's safe to assume Crawford has crossed paths with the big man quite a few times over the years. In fact, while talking to the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson, Crawford mentioned how Shaq was the hardest player he ever had to make calls for.

"We were always two years behind catching up with all the stuff Shaq would do on the court," Crawford said. "Shaq was the most difficult big man to referee in the history of the game. He was so massive, so physical, so dominant.

"Players would just flop because they didn't know any other way to guard the guy. We had to concern ourselves with whether they're flopping or if Shaq was just knocking the hell out of the guy."
