The New York Knicks' front-office overhaul continues.

The team will hire Gerald Madkins as assistant general manager, sources told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.

Madkins has been serving as an assistant GM with the Los Angeles Clippers, whom he originally joined in 2012 as the director of basketball operations. He was a scout for the Knicks from 2003-07, and also worked for the New Orleans Pelicans, Houston Rockets, and Oklahoma City Thunder.

The 48-year-old, who played basketball professionally for eight years split between the NBA and overseas, will work under newly named team president Steve Mills and general manager Scott Perry.

The leadership change was necessary after the Knicks missed the playoffs for the fourth straight year and parted ways with team president Phil Jackson.

In his second stint in the Big Apple, Madkins will presumably help the club in its efforts to trade disgruntled star Carmelo Anthony and perhaps try to acquire Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving.
