The Memphis Grizzlies are close to making Mario Chalmers whole.

Memphis is reportedly close to finalizing a partially guaranteed one-year deal with the free agent, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Chalmers suggested a return to Memphis was imminent with an Instagram post earlier Tuesday:

After starting his eighth season with the Miami Heat, Chalmers was traded to Memphis six games into the 2015-16 season. In 55 games with the Grizzlies, primarily used as the first guard off the bench, Chalmers helped to stabilize the second unit's offense with 10.8 points and 3.8 assists per game.

Unfortunately, the good times were short-lived: Chalmers tore his Achilles tendon in March 2016, just one of many injuries that plagued a Memphis locker room that saw an NBA-record 28 players take the floor.

With Chalmers ruled out for the season, the Grizzlies waived him in order to open up a much-needed roster spot. As such, there was always the potential that the two sides would eventually reunite, as Chalmers played a major role in facilitating his buyout with the team.

The guaranteed portion of his one-year deal with Memphis would likely reward Chalmers' act of good faith, compensating the 31-year-old for some of the money he left on the table in 2016. Still, Chalmers will provide some needed veteran depth behind Mike Conley should he find a niche with the club.
