Memphis residents flocked to MLGW payment kiosks across the city Saturday after a rumor surfaced that former Grizzlies forward Zach Randolph was donating $1 million to cover customers' utility bills.

However, the rumor turned out to be false.

Despite confirmation from MLGW on Twitter that Randolph wasn't paying off the utility bills, people continued to wait in line for hours because the kiosks were displaying a zero balance - something the company would later attribute to a glitch, according to WREG-TV.

Randolph eventually took to Twitter as well to confirm the rumor was false.
