Dirk Nowitzki and the Dallas Mavericks have had a happy marriage, but that doesn't mean they can't renew their vows every couple of years.

The German superstar and the only NBA employer he's ever known are close to finalizing a two-year, $10-million contract to keep the 13-time All-Star in Dallas, sources told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.

At the very least, the pact will take Nowitzki through Year 20 in the NBA - and knocking on the door of 40 years old. The second year will reportedly be a team option, but at this point in Nowitzki's storied career in Dallas, any split would likely be mutual and amicable.

The Dunking Deutschman has averaged 21.7 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game with 38.1 percent 3-point shooting in what will undoubtedly go down as a first-ballot Hall of Fame career.
