Lob City as we know it may be over, but the Los Angeles Clippers may not be prepared to undergo a complete rebuild. The team is focused on retaining Blake Griffin in free agency, sources told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne.

The bombshell of Chris Paul's reported trade to the Houston Rockets Wednesday set off questions as to whether the Clippers planned to go in a completely different direction after six seasons of the Paul-Griffin-DeAndre Jordan core. However, reports seem to indicate that L.A. was mostly prepared to move on from the 32-year-old Paul, possibly not wanting him under contract in his late 30s.

Griffin reportedly opted out of his contract last week, making him an unrestricted free agent. While he'll likely have suitors such as the Boston Celtics, he has spoken on record several times about wanting to continue playing in Los Angeles.

In the six seasons Griffin and Paul played together, rumors would occasionally surface that the pair did not get along, something rendered a moot point now with the point guard's departure. Griffin's biggest challenge the last three years has been staying healthy, as he's missed a combined 83 games due to various injuries.
