Wolves waive Jordan Hill

Brian Spurlock / USA TODAY Sports

The Minnesota Timberwolves have waived big man Jordan Hill, the team announced Monday.

The Wolves signed Hill to a two-year, $8-million deal last summer, but the second year was non-guaranteed until June 30.

The 29-year-old fell out of the rotation almost immediately upon arriving in Minnesota, and played just 47 total minutes last season, averaging 1.7 points and two rebounds across seven games. He had a solid 2015-16 season with the Indiana Pacers, though - averaging 8.8 points and 6.2 rebounds off the bench - and may garner some interest as an unrestricted free agent.

With Hill off the books, the Wolves can carve out approximately $24 million in cap space ahead of free agency on July 1, should they choose to renounce Shabazz Muhammad.
