Beal: Relationship with Wall 'better than it has ever been'

Bradley Beal and John Wall haven't always gotten along in Washington, but an encouraging season that saw the Wizards get to the Eastern Conference semifinals has united the franchise pillars behind a common goal.

In a blog post Friday, Beal detailed how a rocky start to the season brought the team together - and put an end to the doubters that called the duo's on-court relationship into question.

"John was terrific all year," wrote Beal. "He’s our point guard and our general, and our relationship is better than it has ever been.

"We wanted to prove to people that they were wrong, and that there were no issues between us. There was no beef. We need one another in order for this team to be successful."

Now, Beal has his sights set on showing the world just how great his partnership with Wall can be. It starts with holding each other accountable.

"If we want to be the best backcourt in the NBA, we’ve got to show up every night and prove it, constantly put the work in, and continue to challenge each other to get better."

With Beal and Wall marching in lockstep next season, the Wizards will look to crack the 50-win plateau for the first time since 1978-79, the season after the organization's lone NBA championship.
