Report: Paul George trade talks stall between Pacers, Celtics

Trade talks between the Boston Celtics and Indiana Pacers on a deal involving Paul George have stalled, sources told Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical.

The two sides had reportedly gained significant momentum on draft night around the time the Celtics took Jayson Tatum with the No. 3 pick.

This report surfaced shortly after Jimmy Butler was moved to the Minnesota Timberwolves. It's unclear if one informed the other, but it wouldn't be surprising given that Butler was another trade target of the Celtics.

George has one year left on his contract before he can bolt to his beloved Los Angeles Lakers as a free agent in 2018, so he'd likely only be a rental. But Boston would be acquiring one of the best two-way players in the league with four All-Star and three All-NBA selections on his resume to power another deep playoff run.

George averaged 23.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 3.3 assists last season for the Pacers, while shooting 39.3 percent from deep.
