LeBron's Ohio home decorated with positive signs by local

ESPN & Jennifer Pennington

The opening two games of the NBA Finals have been rough for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but with the team set to return home for Games 3 and 4, their local fans remain strong and supportive.

Last week, LeBron James' Los Angeles property was maliciously vandalized with a racial slur. The event prompted James to provide an open and honest comment regarding the issue of racism that many Americans endure on a daily basis. It also inspired one local resident to try to right the wrong as best she could.

Jennifer Pennington, a teacher in the Akron school system, drafted her own signs that praised James and placed them outside his house in Bath Township, Ohio. The signs praised the Cavaliers superstar, calling him a "Role Model," "Leader," and "Good Samaritan."

"My heart broke when I saw the N-word posted," Pennington told ESPN's Dave McMenamin. "It just seemed like the right thing to do to combat the evil, combat the hate in the world."

LeBron and Pennington aren't total strangers, however. James' kindergarten class at Crosby Elementary School was taught by Pennington's mother, Edie Bowers. Pennington has also worked at a summer camp that is sponsored by the LeBron James Family Foundation.

Regardless of the outcome of these NBA Finals, James and his work within the Ohio community has made a positive impact that no one can take from him.
