With the No. 16 pick in Thursday's NBA draft, the Minnesota Timberwolves selected Creighton center Justin Patton.

The Timberwolves reportedly acquired the pick in a trade with the Bulls earlier in the night.

Standing 7-feet tall with a 7-foot-2 wingspan, Patton is the type of player teams would love to slide into a run-and-gun offense and have him work in transition, as he's an outstanding athlete with terrific mobility.

He's not going to command a ton of touches, as most of his offense during his freshman season came because he worked well off the ball, catching it around the basket and finishing with his soft hands.

Patton is still very much a work in progress, though, and would benefit from more seasoning - both physically and with his fundamentals - before seeing any playing time in the pros. He's a liability at the charity stripe (51.7 free-throw percentage), was an average rebounder in college, and hasn't demonstrated much of a mid-range game at a time when it's almost a necessity for bigs to be capable of opening up the floor.
