Several people associated with the Chicago Bulls believe that Dwyane Wade will opt in to the final year of his contract this summer, according to the Chicago Tribune's K.C. Johnson.
If Wade chooses to pick up the option and stay with the Bulls, it could signal that the organization will stick with the status quo and not commence a ground-up rebuild - one that would include trading franchise cornerstone Jimmy Butler.
Wade left things open when the season ended, telling reporters, "I don't need to ring chase, but I can."
Wade turns 36 in January. The final year of his contract is worth $23.8 million. In 60 games this season, he averaged 18.3 points on career-low 43.4 percent shooting.
