Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr remains unsure whether he'll return to the sidelines for this year's Finals as he deals with pain stemming from a pair of 2015 back surgeries.

"Just day-by-day," Kerr told The Undefeated's Marc Spears Monday, when asked how he was handling the discomfort.

While the 51-year-old bench boss was able to accompany his team to San Antonio for Games 3 and 4, he's reportedly still in considerable pain, and his ability to travel should not be viewed as progress.

Warriors owner Joe Lacob revealed Monday that he plans to give Kerr "as long as he wants" to make his return, believing his presence is still felt by the team even if he's not on the sidelines.

"He is a fantastic coach and a fantastic human being and a great friend," Lacob told ESPN's Ramona Shelburne. "I told him the other day, 'I don't even want to talk about or think about anything other than winning this championship. You can contribute in any way you can, and we'll worry about the future in the future

"He is still here," he added. "He's in the locker room. He's around. His imprint is all over this. I don't view it as he's not here; he's just not on the bench."

The Finals will tip off June 1, giving Kerr nine days to make his decision.
