Report: Knicks remain committed to moving Carmelo this summer
The New York Knicks will continue their dogged push to shove Carmelo Anthony out the door in favor of a rebuild.
Anthony holds all the power with a full no-trade clause, but that hasn't deterred Knicks president Phil Jackson. Having failed to moved Anthony at the trade deadline, the Knicks will continue looking for suitors in the offseason, sources told ESPN's Ian Begley.
The Los Angeles Clippers could emerge as a suitor. A deadline deal didn't quite pan out - as the Knicks were offered scraps - but Begley relays that members of the Clippers organization were confident that a deal could be made in the summer.
Los Angeles is facing key free-agency decisions with Blake Griffin, Chris Paul, and J.J. Redick all due for new contracts. It's unclear as to how Anthony would fit into their plans, since their payroll is set to skyrocket.
But before anything else, the decision rests upon Anthony's shoulders. So long as he's willing to endure the media scrutiny and endless losing that comes with wearing the Knicks uniform, the team has no choice but to honor his contract.
