Brandon Jennings: Expected to sign with Washington
Jennings is expected to sign with the Wizards on Wednesday after clearing waivers, Mike Wise of ESPN.com reports.
Analysis:
The Knicks waived Jennings on Monday in order to allow the soon-to-be free agent pursue an opportunity with a playoff contender, and in the likely event that he goes unclaimed, it looks like he'll join the Wizards, who were in need of added depth at point guard behind starter John Wall. Once he officially inks a deal with the Wizards, Jennings should quickly usurp Trey Burke as Wall's top backup, while occasionally seeing time at shooting guard behind Bradley Beal as well. Jennings averaged 8.6 points (on 38% shooting from the field), 4.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds and 1.2 three-pointers in 24.6 minutes per game over his 58 appearances with the Knicks, but with both Wall and Beal ranking among the league leaders in minutes, the 27-year-old stands to see a drop off in playing time and production.
