The Milwaukee Bucks will be getting a new D-League affiliate franchise that will play out of Oshkosh, Wisc. starting in the 2017-18 season, reports Charles F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

The Bucks will hold a press conference on Wednesday at 3 p.m. to officially announce the new squad, as well as the construction of a new 3,500-seat arena expected to be finished by the beginning of next season. Oshkosh is roughly a 90-minute drive from Milwaukee and was one of three options for the expansion, along with Racine and Sheboygan.

The Bucks will be the 20th team in the NBA to have a direct affiliate, and along with Atlanta and Memphis - who recently announced their own affiliates for next year - will bring the total number of D-League teams to 25 for next season.

Having a farm team in nearby Oshkosh means the Bucks can assign anyone they have under contract to the D-League squad, allowing them to send injured players for rehab stints that won't take them out of state.
